Public Health Nurse
Curry Community Health is looking to hire a Public Health Nurse to work in Curry County, Oregon, located in a beautiful community on the Southern Oregon Coast. This is a full time position offering health benefits (medical, dental, vision), holiday pay, paid time off as well as life insurance and 403b.
This position provides diversified public health nursing services to the community; conducts various clinics; responsible for coordination of specific public health projects; does related work as required.
Some Responsibilities include:
Provide various public health services to community members in a clinic setting. Public health services may include: maternal child health, STD testing, communicable disease testing, home visiting, immunizations, and other services as directed.
Initiate follow-up care and make referrals to physicians or other community agencies as necessary.
Manage and coordinate various state public health programs such as communicable disease, tuberculosis, immunizations, WIC, maternal child health, reproductive health, and others.
Establishes and maintains client medical charts and other necessary records.
Provides public health screening to schools and immunizations and health education classes to children and/or parents. Collaborates with school nurses, counselors and other officials regarding child and adolescent health.
Nurse home visiting with mentally ill community members.
Work Location: Office based in Gold Beach, OR. Will also provide services at various sites around Curry County.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing and one year of nursing experience affording a knowledge of Public Health or related nursing services with major responsibilities for conducting or assisting with a variety of Public Health programs; or any satisfactory equivalent of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above described duties.
Licensed by the State of Oregon as a Registered Nurse; possession of a valid Oregon Driver's license.
Thorough knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; medical and lab equipment and testing procedures; medications. Considerable knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques. Knowledge of HIPAA; immunization indications, technique and laws; communicable diseases; child health; family planning; and STD procedures.
Ability to work independently; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; deal tactfully and patiently with both adults and children; establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data; use initiative and judgment; maintain effective working relationships with other related agencies, professionals and citizen groups.
Skill in operation of medical instruments and laboratory equipment, such as stethoscope, glucometer, microscope, syringe and surgical instruments.
Computer skills to effectively use email, folders, to do online research or trainings when needed, and to learn electronic health record system in use at Curry Community Health.
Ability to travel, usually within the state, to attend various job-related trainings and conferences.
