Job Posting – Medical Assistant

Curry Community Health is looking to hire a Medical Assistant to work in Curry County, located in a beautiful community on the Southern Oregon Coast. This is a full time position offering health benefits (medical, dental, vision), holiday pay, paid time off as well as life insurance and 403b.

The Medical Assistant’s primary role is to assist the physician/practitioner in preparing patients for examinations and assisting the physician/practitioner with examinations.  Supports patients and the FNP/PNP with laboratory testing, prescription refills, and procedures. The MA is the primary contact for patients and helps with scheduling and referrals.  

Some Responsibilities include:

  1. Interviews clients, gathers medical history, performs general health screening, prepares client for exams.

  2. Enters patient information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

  3. Collects laboratory specimens and prepares them to send to lab if indicated.

  4. Sterilize medical instruments.

  5. Initiates follow up care and make referrals to physicians and other community health agencies or resources as necessary.

  6. Follows specific nursing orders as directed by the physician. Performs simple procedures as assigned (taking blood pressure, etc.)  

  7. Establishes and maintains patient medical charts and other necessary records.

  8. Prepares equipment and supply orders.  Ensures inventory is within date range (not expired or outdated) and maintains thermometer logs for the vaccine refrigerator/freezer at assigned locations.

  9. Conducts a monthly inventory on vaccines and works with Nursing Supervisor to ensure CCH has a sufficient supply of vaccinations.

  10. Comfortable administering injections and immunizations under the supervision of the physician.

Work Schedule/Location: Normal working days/hours are Tuesday – Friday each week, excluding paid holidays.  Normal work hours are 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Office location in Gold Beach and Brookings.


  • MA Certification from an accredited agency, or AA degree in medical or physical health, or a related field; at least two years of experience in MA position; or satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data, and use initiative and judgment in reporting and recording patient information.

  • Must have knowledge of: Medical assistant techniques and procedures; Medical terminology; Procedures for maintaining a clean, healthful and pleasant environment; Health care ethics including confidentiality and record keeping; Software programs and electronic health records; The use of routine and various medical instruments and equipment.

  • Must possess a current Oregon driver’s license, pass a pre-employment drug test, and pass the criminal background check required by the State of Oregon.

  • Has the ability to effectively use a computer including use of software programs (e.g.; Microsoft word, Excel), email, EMR’s and Internet.  

Pay Range:  $18 to $24 per hour (depending on experience)
