Curry Community Health is looking to hire a Public Health Programs Coordinator to work in Curry County, Oregon, located in a beautiful community on the Southern Oregon Coast. This is a full time position offering health benefits (medical, dental, vision), holiday pay, paid time off as well as life insurance and 403b.
The Public Health Programs Coordinator works under the general supervision of public health administrator who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews results obtained. Coordinates and oversees special public health projects and/or services; develops, monitors, evaluate and updates the provisions of specific public health services; plans strategies to address community health concerns. The public health programs coordinator works in the following programs for the local public health authority: Communicable Disease, School Law, Immunizations, and Reproductive Health/Family Planning.
Some Responsibilities include:
Participates in communicable disease surveillance and service activities.
Encourages and provides means for reporting, monitoring, investigation and controlling communicable diseases and other health hazards through coordinated medical and environmental intervention.
Provides investigation and follow-up of reportable conditions and communicable diseases according to Oregon CD Guidelines and reporting requirements.
Works closely with CD nursing staff on case management.
Participates in updates of program manuals and development of policies and procedures.
Actively participates in planning, implementation and evaluation of epidemiology program service improvement activities.
Provides information and referral services to clients, professional providers and the public; provides consultation to co-workers on work issues related to communicable disease.
Develops, presents and evaluates education and training programs for staff and the community; updates educational materials and pamphlets.
Promotes communicable disease prevention by providing client education and testing and providing consultation and education to the regional provider community.
Collects and prepares specimen collection for transport.
Coordinates the school law on immunizations program
Coordinates the reproductive health/family planning program.
Reports to state agencies on the various public health programs.
Work Location/Hours: Office based in Brookings, OR. Visits various sites as needed or assigned. Monday - Friday, excluding paid holidays. Normal work hours are 8:00-5:00.
Knowledge of federal, state and local communicable disease reporting requirements and epidemiology.
Understand epidemiology study design; modes of disease transmission and epidemic patterns of disease in the community; epidemiological features of diseases and conditions significant to public health; risk assessment including causes and modes of transmission of infectious diseases; interpret methodology and statistical methods used in epidemiological studies; sources of and use of demographic and health data; word processing; computer applications, statistics, graphics and database software, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to design epidemiological surveillance programs; performs and assists in the collection, analysis interpretation and evaluation of data
Excellent computer skills, development of data systems.
Read, interpret and analyze technical, medical, demographic and statistical data and laboratory reports.
Bachelor’s degree in public health or epidemiology or related field.
Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training relevant to the position.
Possess a current driver’s license, pass a pre-employment drug test and pass a criminal background check required by the State of Oregon.
Pay Range: $23 to $28 per hour, depending on experience
