Job Posting – Patient Scheduler Specialist (new position)

Due to increase in services, Curry Community Health is looking to hire a Patient Scheduler Specialist to work in Curry County, Oregon, located in a beautiful community on the Southern Oregon Coast. This is a NEW full time position offering health benefits (medical, dental, vision), holiday pay, paid time off as well as life insurance and 403b.

The Patient Scheduler Specialist uses clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate routine and non-routine appointments with Curry Community Health providers. In addition, the Patient Scheduler Specialist will perform a variety of receptionist, clerical, record keeping and miscellaneous duties in support and care of services provided in an outpatient medical setting.

Some Responsibilities include:

  1. Handles incoming calls from patients, outside facilities and providers, and others for scheduling.

  2. Display excellent communication skills and telephone etiquette.

  3. Schedule and reschedule all routine and non-routine services for CCH providers.

  4. Update account information at the point of scheduling.

  5. Coordinate scheduling and referrals to other healthcare providers and services.

  6. Enter accurate information in the electronic medical record for scheduling, rescheduling, cancellation and note entry.

  7. Effectively utilize clinical knowledge when determining if appointment is consistent with the diagnosis/indications indicated by the provider.

  8. Provide support to, and fill-in for, reception staff as needed.

Work Location/Hours: Office location in Brookings, OR. At times the individual may be called on to serve in multiple locations.  Monday - Friday, excluding paid holidays. Normal work hours are 8:00-5:00.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; advanced computer training, minimum two (2) years’ experience in medical clinic administrative or scheduling position, and/or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which would demonstrate the ability to perform the

  • Must have knowledge of: medical terminology, procedures for maintaining a clean, healthful and pleasant environment, health care ethics, confidentiality and record keeping.

  • Has the ability to effectively use a computer including use of software programs (e.g.; Microsoft word, Excel), email, EMR’s and Internet.

  • Possess a current driver’s license, pass a pre-employment drug test and pass a criminal background check required by the State of Oregon.

Pay Range:  $14 to $18 per hour, depending on experience
