Tobacco Prevention Education Program Coordinator

Curry Community Health is looking to hire a Tobacco Prevention Education Program Coordinator to work in Curry County Oregon, located in a beautiful community on the Southern Oregon Coast. This is a full time position offering health benefits (medical, dental, vision), holiday pay, paid time off as well as life insurance and 403b.

This position is part of the Public Health Prevention Team and is responsible for:  Plans, implements and evaluates specific health programs for the fulfillment of educational and policy goals for the community. Includes outreach; largely dependent upon the employee's self-motivation.

Some Responsibilities include:

  1. Assists in identifying and analyzing health and related education and policy needs in the community and in populations served by the health department.

  2. Assists in development of health education and policy components of program goals and objectives throughout the department. Specifically tobacco prevention education goals as outlined by the TPEP grant, but working closely with other prevention coordinator(s) to meet community and health department needs.

  3. Develops and maintains liaison between Department and other community agencies, groups and organizations concerned with human services.

  4. Develops and maintains working relationships with radio, Newspaper and television media. Writes news releases, public-service announcements, articles and produces educational materials to community groups and organizations.

  5. Provides technical assistance in the development of materials for provision of health education programs to community groups and organizations.

  6. Promotes health and educational services provided by the Department.

  7. Attend required trainings and calls as required by the Tobacco Prevention Education Program. Other duties as assigned by the public health administrator.

 

Work Location: Office based in Brookings, OR. Visits various sites as needed or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.  Demonstrated background in health promotion, public health policy development, and education; or any satisfactory equivalent of experience and training. Strong public relations background is desirable.

  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and materials relevant to health education and policy development.

  • Knowledge of the general public health framework and approach to policy development.

  • Must possess a current Oregon driver’s license, pass a pre-employment drug test, and pass the criminal background check required by the State of Oregon.

  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel basic accounting principles.

Pay Range:  $18 to $22 per hour
