Peer Support Specialist
Curry Community Health is looking to hire a Peer Support Specialist (Part Time – 20 hours per week) to work in Curry County, Oregon, located in a beautiful community on the Southern Oregon Coast. This is a part time position offering holiday pay, paid time off as well as life insurance and 403b.
The Peer Support Specialist provides a variety of recovery-oriented services in order to promote greater independence, community integration and recovery from mental illness. Services provided by the Peer Support Specialist includes a wide range of supports, services, and advocacy that contributes to a client’s ability to engage in ongoing treatment. The Peer Support Specialist will assist in the development of peer led drop in programming. Services provided will be consistent with the Recovery and Strengths-Based models and will be based in a therapeutic relationship.
Some Responsibilities include:
Work with peers to identify wellness and recovery goals. Assist peers in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan that identifies the individual’s self-determined goals, as well as specific objectives to carry out these goals.
Independently or with treatment team members, utilize and teach problem solving techniques with individuals and groups.
Assist peers one on one, or in groups.
Ensure timely completion of all required paperwork. Document all peer contact at time of service.
Work Location: The Peer Support Specialist has an office location in Brookings. At times the individual will be called on to serve in multiple locations.
Must be certified by OHA as a Peer Specialist at time of hire or within first 6 months.
The individual in this position will maintain a thorough knowledge of the scope of peer support services; Medicaid regulations and compliance issues; practices, procedures, and medical record keeping practices.
Effectively uses resources, demonstrates initiative and accepts responsibility.
Possess a current driver’s license, pass a pre-employment drug test and pass a criminal background check required by the State of Oregon.
Pay Range: $12 - $16 per hour
